Check smoke detectors (every six months)

  Keep fire extinguishers handy
(one in the garage and one near the kitchen)

  Watch for frayed extension cords and keep away from water

  Clean chimney before next winter

  Store chemicals properly and out of reach of children

  Put proper guards on lawn movers
(Keep pets and children away while mowing)

  Keep a first aid kit close by & take a CPR course

  Write down ALL emergency phone numbers, such as the poison control center, doctors, sheriff, and fire department

  Keep matches and lighters out of reach of all children

  Never leave pots and pans unattended while cooking
