Digging around

Electricity is the proven home energy safety leader, but you still have to be careful around it. Colorado SB 93-155 requires that anyone that engages in any type of excavation must provide advance notice to the underground facility owners. The notice must be at least two business days, not including the day of the call prior to excavation. Before you begin any type of excavation, you must notify the Utility www.uncc.org. Watch out for overhead lines with backhoes and other tall equipment. Call your electric cooperative for assistance in locating underground power lines.

Some People Are Shocked By What They Find When They Dig In Their Yards.

It's that time of year when people begin poking all kinds of holes in the ground. New trees, shrubs, fence posts, mail boxes, you name it, all require some digging, from a foot to several feet deep. The problem these days is that you don't really know what you are going to dig into. It may only be a few earthworms, or the ball point pen you lost a few years ago. On the other hand, it could be a buried utility line, with 220 volts of electricity. Or, you may chop right into the cable TV line just in time for your favorite program, all of which would be unpleasant, some of which could be downright dangerous. So, call San Isabel Electric before you start to dig. We'll help you avoid the shocks.
