Gene Aiello is a native of Trinidad. He and his wife Doris have one son. Aiello is a seasonal consumer and has his summer residence near Monument Lake. He attended Regis University in Denver and the University of San Francisco in California.

Aiello served in the U.S. Army as an engineer during World War II, where he earned the Legion of Merit, a Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He retired from the position of President and CEO of the Trinidad National Bank and is now a full-time farmer. He was the mayor pro-tem for the City of Trinidad and is chairman of the Purgatoire River Conservancy District. Aiello also served on the Impact Assistance Administration Advisory Commission and is a director for the A.R. Mitchell Gallery and Museum.

His business experience includes financial management, labor relations, and consulting for various entities in California and the Law Enforcement Assistance Administration in Washington, D.C. He was also manager of the Westborough County Water District in California, city manager of Brisbane and the City of San Francisco, California, and a consultant for the Department of Justice. Prior to moving to California, he held positions as city manager; city treasurer, and city clerk for the City of Trinidad. He was also manager of a water and sewer district in California for 25 years.

Aiello has served as past president of the San Isabel Electric Board and has also served as San Isabel’s representative on the Western United Electric Supply Corporation Board.
